Submission Guidelines and Other Pertinent Information:

Homebase is a quarterly publication of the non-profit, feminist group Mothers are Women. While we respect all childcare choices, we are mothers who have chosen to be the primary care givers of our children and to remain at home with them for some amount of time.

MAW believes that an integral part of achieving equality for women is the freedom to define, for ourselves, the role of motherhood, the conditions of motherhood and the environment in which our children are born and raised.

Homebase provides a forum to voice the love, humour, isolation and politics of our experiences as mothers and as women.

As Homebase is an open forum, the views expressed in the articles are those of the writers, and do not necessarily reflect those of the editorial staff or Mothers Are Women.

In order to be a showcase for the varied experiences of mothers, we need and encourage your contributions. Manuscripts and original artwork are welcome. Homebase can assume no responsibility for unsolicited material. Submissions will not be returned, please do not send originals. Please include some brief biographical notes about yourself.

The following are some general guidelines for Homebase submissions: Articles should be approximately 500-1000 words, typed (or legibly handwritten) double-spaced with wide margins, or, if possible, emailed to us. Artwork, done in black ink, should be no larger than 6 1/4” x 6 1/4.”

If you would like to participate in a Homebase editorial meeting please contact us for more information.

Our Advertising Rate Card is also available upon request.
